2. Testing on your FiveM server
You exported first_room in the first tutorial. Now you put it on a FiveM server and walk in.
You will learn: where the interior stands in the world, the Teleport placement, installing the resource, and the restart rule.
You need: a FiveM server you can restart (a local test server is ideal), and the exported folder.
1. Decide where the interior stands
Section titled “1. Decide where the interior stands”Open the World workspace (the World tab next to the menus in the menu bar). The Properties panel becomes the World page, and the row of three buttons at its top picks how players reach the interior:
| Placement | How players get in |
|---|---|
| World | The interior stands at a world position and rotation. Players walk or teleport to it. |
| Walk-in | Inside an existing building of the map, through its own doors. See tutorial 6. |
| Teleport | An entrance in the world and an arrival point inside. The export adds a small client script with a marker and an E prompt at each end. |
For a first test, Teleport is the easiest: you choose a spot you can easily reach, and the interior itself can stand anywhere out of the way.
- Choose Teleport.
- Under Position, set the World position where the interior stands (and its Rotation if you like). Pick a place nothing else stands, for example high in the air or far out over the sea: players never see it from outside.
- Under Entrance, type the Position (x, y, z) and Heading where players stand outside to go in, and where they come back out. Use the coordinates of a spot you know in game, as the game shows them. Your admin menu (vMenu, txAdmin and similar) can show your current coordinates.
- Under Arrival, set the Position where players appear inside and the Heading they face. This is in the interior’s
own space, the plan’s coordinates, with z the floor of the level. Put it in the middle of your room, for example
2.5, 2, 0for a 5 x 4 m room with a corner at the origin. Not sure where your room is? In the Creator workspace select one of its walls: Properties shows its Start and End.
tut2-01-teleport-page.webp- Choose World.
- Under Position, type the World position where the interior’s ground floor origin should sit, and its Rotation (degrees about the vertical).
- Choose an empty spot: an interior standing inside hills or other buildings will overlap them. If it stands in or over a building of the map, leave Occluders > Clear occluders inside the interior on, or the game’s occluders can hide it.
tut2-02-world-page.webpThe position is saved in the project, so re-exporting never moves the interior.
2. Export again
Section titled “2. Export again”Press Ctrl+E (or the blue Export button at the right of the menu bar). Leave the format on
Resource (FiveM) and check the Folder: it should be the same first_room folder as before (Choose folder… if it is
empty). Exporting again into the same folder replaces the files.
Check Game in the Export window: Legacy (the default) is for a server on GTA V Legacy, Enhanced for GTA V Enhanced, and Both makes one resource for either game. The choice is saved with the project.
tut2-03-export-window.webpWhen it is done, the Export report lists every file written; Open folder shows the resource folder.
tut2-04-export-report.webpThe folder now looks like this (for Legacy):
Directoryfirst_room/
- fxmanifest.lua the resource manifest
- modlo_teleport.lua only for a Teleport interior
Directorystream/
- first_room_shell.ydr the shell, with the lights
- first_room_room_1_details.ydr a room’s trims, dirt and decals, when it has some
- first_room_shadow.ydr shadow proxy
- first_room_reflect.ydr reflection proxy
- first_room.ybn collision
- first_room.ytyp the interior’s rooms and portals
- first_room_props.ytyp door and prop definitions, when there are doors or props
- first_room_milo.ymap where it stands
- _manifest.ymf the streaming manifest
- 1234567890.ymt audio occlusion (a number as its name)
Directoryaudio/
- firstroom_game.dat151.rel the rooms’ audio settings
What each file is: Exporting to FiveM.
3. Install it on the server
Section titled “3. Install it on the server”-
Copy the whole
first_roomfolder into the server’sresourcesfolder. The folder’s name is the resource’s name. -
Open
server.cfgand add a line:ensure first_room -
Restart the server. Not only the resource: the game reads the interior’s audio data (
audio/*.rel) when it starts. Do this after the first export and whenever the audio data changes.
tut2-05-server-resources.webptut2-06-server-cfg.webp4. Walk in
Section titled “4. Walk in”Join the server and go to your entrance (Teleport) or your world position (World). With a Teleport interior, a blue marker shows at the entrance: stand on it and press E to go in. The marker where you arrive inside takes you back out the same way.
tut2-07-ingame-entrance.webpCheck:
- The room renders and you stand on the floor.
- Looking out of the door or window shows the outside world (the exit portal), not black.
- The light is on, and props have their models.
tut2-08-ingame-inside.webpIf something is wrong
Section titled “If something is wrong”| What you see | Look at |
|---|---|
| The resource does not start | The server console: is ensure first_room there, and spelled like the folder? |
| Nothing renders, or you fall through | stream/_manifest.ymf and the .ytyp are in the folder (stream_enhanced/ for Enhanced), and the server was restarted. |
| The game crashes near the interior | Re-export the whole resource into the folder and restart the server. |
| The outside is black from a doorway | The room’s timecycle: see Troubleshooting. |

Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- 3. A small apartment: several rooms, shared walls, inside doors.
